Guy,

I didn't think?your car?sounded like a clutch gone bad. Unfortunatly, I'm all too familar with the devastating sound of main bearings going bad. You're luck you have a SBC and can get every part you could possibly need or want from a local auto parts store. They don't carry too many Corvair engine parts, maybe a radiator cap :^).

As for the oil pressure light. When autocrossing or enjoying other spirited driving, it stops being a "warning" light and becomes a "why did it break" light. Most of the OP senders for the light come on at 4-7 psi, way too low for high RPM driving. By the time the light comes on, it's most likely already too late.
