[Wichita-SCCA] Competition w/ other regions - drift drivers

IMHO, the best shots for a drifting event, as Dickerson suggested, would be race tracks. In the Wichita area that pretty much means the dragstrips at Wichita and Ark City -- the only handy paved tracks. All the roundy-round tracks in Kansas are dirt. They also come with setups to accommodate spectators if you open up to that.
Also, and IMHO, the best chance to pursue either of the suggested events would be rallycross, for which you need only an empty field of fairly firm dirt (think autocross on dirt). Such likely sites would also often have the advantage of being rural, minimizing noise problems. Then again, how about a rallyx course set up at 81 Speedway?

I thought Rhys Millen did most of the wheel work for F&F3?
I think the problems you may find with the owners of potential lots are the noise, smoke, and tire marks left on the surface.

How is SCCA drift scored? Is it a timed event, but traction is
optional, or is it traditional drift scoring with judges?
Oh yea...Tsuchiya is the man :)

Thomas and I are very passionate about these 2 things and would love to
get them rolling!
Drift is a BIG deal, it's one of those 'bring your game face, or don't
come at all', very much like solo... although the afore mentioned bikni
thing is intresting..I don't think so..LoL
If you look up SCCA drift on youtube you'll see some excellent
drivers... you can also find the drift god... the man who can drift with
just about anything... Keiichi, if you've ever seen F&F Tokyo drift he
did all the the drifiting cars for the movie and drove most of them...
he is perfect in everything he does, if everything is not 100% he will
not step in the car.
That is exactly what we want... this is a very 'graceful' sport and the
last thing we want is some idiot screwing it up for everybody. We'd love
to get these things started and can use all the help we can get! Thanks
for all the input so far and let's make this happen!!
