[Wichita-SCCA] Competition w/ other regions

Regarding the need to ensure drivers have *some* drifting skill, maybe every 2nd or 3rd event could be a "school" event as well as competition, where you set a certain test that each driver has to pass. Make experienced drivers and drifters available for ride-alongs and teaching sessions like "beginners schools", to give the new drivers a good footing. Once they pass your requirements, then they'd be able to compete in later events?

Just a thought

To Start:
I was planning on having one car at a time, or waiting until the first car is at least 1/2 way through the course (kind of like solo) to avoid collisions...

I fully understand that this will be a very different thing than Solo and do NOT intend to jump into Solo's buisness unless approved by everybody.
I also understand that this is a "grassroots" region and would like to stress the importance of safety during these events and the need to have a certain skill level...

What I don't know, is how I can make sure that people who don't know what they are doing don't compete in a Club Drift event. I'm kind of stuck there because people do need to be given the chance, but I don't want to "cross the line" and have somebody cause an accident.

Another thing is that I really like the idea of using race tracks, but what will be needed to do so? And what about locations? Like local smaller tracks (international?... 81 speedway?...), I unfortunately haven't had the time yet to visit these tracks (LoL, don't ask) but these are just ideas to get everybody's mind rolling.

I don't want to limit ourselfs to the major circuits in the midwest just due to travel time (some people won't attend because of this). If we had too, though, I'd still organize these events around these tracks, but I'd also like to keep a lookout for other possible sites.

NOW!... I have a question for future planning. I know that there are plans for a 1000ft x 1000ft pad for Solo; so my question is this: Is this pad intended JUST for Solo? or may it be a possible site for Club Drifting in the future too?

To be honest, I'm kind of affraid of asking this question because I don't wish to interfere with any Solo plans... but I'd still like to know. (appologies if I offended anybody)

As for RallyX... heheh, I'm up for anybody's help with site acquisitions and setups/organizing, and I'm going to "enlist" the help of a few other major RallyX regions to start this up and get it running ASAP...
(personal opinions) Come on! we live in KANSAS... we drive on dirt roads all the time... LOL ^_^
