[Wichita-SCCA] MiDiv Solo Event #1 - registration is open

Ok, after much planning and thrashing about we're finally ready to
accept entries for the first MiDiv event of the year.  Oops, didn't use
the proper title...  how's this:

The Wichita Region SCCA announces the first event of the 2007 R&S Racing
& Solo Performance Midiv Solo Series hosted by the Wichita and Salina
Region SCCA.  For anyone unfamiliar with a Divisional solo event, it's a
two day event where your best time from Saturday is added to your best
time from Sunday and the total time is what determines your finish
position in your class.  So you might be behind by .2 seconds on
Saturday but you have a chance to make up that difference on Sunday and
move up a position or even take the lead!  Along with two days of
competition you'll also be treated to a banquet on Saturday evening
which will include door prizes and hopefully an entertaining
presentation.  The banquet will be at the Holiday Inn which is also our
event hotel this year.  Rooms have been blocked at a discount rate of
$79/night until May 18th (be sure to tell them you're with the SCCA).

Another new thing for this year is we're going to have a Street Open
class for anything with fenders running on DOT 140 tires.  This is for
anyone who want's to run in a class and not worry about getting beat
just because they don't have "R" compound tires and don't fit in the STS
or STS2 class.  SO is one of the more popular regional classes so here's
a chance to run it at the Divisional level.

The course design is being handled by Joe Silva who promises to have a
course that big cars will like.  That's good news for me because A) I
don't have to worry about designing and building the course this year,
and B) I have a little car.  :-)  I'm sure we'll have something a lot
less "thread the needle" then last years course (where I coned on EVERY
run) but still challenging and technical.

So please register, then tell your buddies and ask them to register.
Let's try to beat the turnout we had last year.  We're running about a
month earlier so hopefully the weather will be nice, at least it should
