[Wichita-SCCA] Speaking of sites

I was told the Corvette Club uses the runway for events, but I don't know
which Corvette club. The Salina Corvette club hasn't run autocrosses since
the ZR-1 was launched into the mulch pile several years ago.

Speaking of air bases, Great Bend has an abandoned air base, as well, with
two unused runways, but they are not legal for SCCA autocrossesdue to
obstructions. One is a registered historic site where the first national
drags were held, and is a fully functioning dragstrip. Last week they had a
divisional meet with classes up to alcohol dragster and alcohol funny car.
The other runway has power poles all along the edge of the runway. It is
still used by the Shelby club for an autocross each year, using Salina
equipment.
