[Wichita-SCCA] Opinions

Ok, everyone. This was discussed at the latest board meeting. The
issue isn't with the posts about the other events at other regions that
conflict with our own region's events. The issue is when you either
bash our region's resources, or if you purposely try to draw people away
from our events. I am all for promoting other region's events. It's
what it's all about. This email list, our Forum, our website, our
membership meetings. All of it. But if you post something on this
email list that says something like "Don't go to Raytheon, HPT is much
better", then to me you are out of line for posting on a regional email
list.

Should we allow it? Absolutely! This is an open list. Should you post
that? I would hope that you would have the decency not to.

If you want to state what you are doing, then that would certainly be
more appropriate. "I am going to HPT that weekend instead of
Raytheon." Everyone knows Raytheon is quickly becoming an unusable
site. Everyone knows the conditions of the surface are better for
building sand castles, rather than racing. We are working very hard to
find other sites that are suitable for all reasons (surface,
availability, cost, location, etc...). Our current options never seem
to have ALL of the attributes needed. There is always one missing.

Again, I don't see a problem with people saying things like "I am going
to Mid Ohio this weekend. Anyone want to go?" That's great! Carpool
to an event. Spread out our presence. And I think that's exactly what
Kevin did. I'm not upset at all by what he posted, or that he went, and
missed the Raytheon event. And no one else should be. Kevin is a great
Wichita Region member. He never said anything bad about Raytheon, just
that he was going to Hastings.

Anyways, that's my opinion. You can post what you want, just be
respectful of the Region, as well as the members here, please. That
should be something that we shouldn't have to ask for, it should be
common sense.

Thanks, stepping off my soap box now....
