[Wichita-SCCA] SUNDAY! 1st points event of the season at Strother Field.

Come one, come all to the first points event of the solo season.  It will be held in the wide open concrete spaces of the south apron at Strother Field this coming Sunday, March 25th.

Strother Field is a WWII dive bomber training facility that now serves as an industrial park for the two cities of Winfield, KS and Arkansas City, KS.  It is located exactly in the middle between the two cities on US Highway 77.  There are two entrances into Strother Field directly from the highway and we typically use the southern-most one.  This southern entrance is located just north of the railroad tracks that cross US Highway 77.  Turn in to the industrial park there and then proceed straight west.  There are no turns; just drive straight back to towards the airport runways and you will find us.  For those new to SCCA events, please know that there is no charge for you and yours to watch the event from the paddock area (where all the cars not currently competing are parked).  We do ask, however, that everyone on site stop at the timing/registration trailer to sign a release and to receive a free wristband that indicates that you have signed the release.  It's required for insurance purposes.  Minor children have special rules and require a special release.

SPECIAL NOTICE:  On-site registration closes -- yes, CLOSES -- at 10:45 am Sunday morning.  Translation: You need to aim at being there by 10:30 am to make sure that registration will still be open.  Pre-registering is not the same as actual registration!

First car off will be at 11:00 am Sunday.

I will be attempting to create a fun, fair, fast course that will flow well so that people won't get lost in a sea of cones if rains.  Rain chances at present are 40% and the wind will be strong all day.  Bring full rain gear.  Be prepared for wet & windy conditions and then it might be sunny all day!

We have over 50 cars pre-registered at this point so find your way down to Strother Field this Sunday.  We're going to have a blast!

We'll have a little get-together after course teardown so stick around and join in.  :-)
