Good question Roger!

The world famous, highly acclaimed IROC slot car challenge is staged in
absolute secrecy each year by the Wichita Region SCCA in a hidden location
to keep the huge crowds down to a reasonable level. Even the date is
withheld until the last possible minute and there is rarely any advertising
or prior notification. Please DO NOT mention it to your friends, neighbors,

or passers-by because, even though they would be warmly welcome, they would

all want to attend! This is a 'gotta-do' thing for all winter weary racers
and autocrossers and traditionally starts the season off with a fun evening.

Scott Bettinger prepares 8 slot cars to be completely identical in every
way. They are all new, undamaged cars but usually by the end of the night
they are all totalled out wrecks! <grin>

The participants split into teams and each team is assigned a car at random.

The teams all race their cars for the first round, changing team drivers at
regular intervals so that every driver gets equal time with that car. That
race ends and all the teams then move to a different car and another race
begins. At the end of the night each team will have raced each car. The
winning team is that one that posted the most laps run for the entire field
of cars.

Registration & Practice at 6:00 Tuesday
Racing starts at 7:00
Location: That little slot car track on south side of Lincoln just east of

the I-135 overpass bridge ... but I can't remember the exact name or the
address. Can someone else chime in with that vital information?

This event is an incredible hoot and great family fun. Be there or be
square!

Enjoy,
Greg Laws
