[Wichita-SCCA] Can a Pirus really go 100mph??

I'm not sure which is more troubling: the thought that a Pirus might go 100
mph or the thought that 100 mph was reported nationally as being scary fast.

Such breathless reporting makes me feel like a relic from the time of 70 mph
speed limits on narrow, bumpy 2-lane roads, 5000 lb cars, skinny bias-ply
tires, drum brakes, manual steering, and no seat belts. A time when low
gear in a Chevy Powerglide would pull past 70 mph and 2nd gear in a Plymouth
Torqueflite might get you 110 mph. A time when speed limts signs for
corners got your FULL attention, gasoline was 28 cents/gallon, 12 mpg was
good, and cars were completely worn out by 100,000 miles -- if they hadn't
rusted out by then.

Oh .... right. That's exactly what I am! <shrug>

At least back then we didn't have to contend with distracted drivers using
cell phones!

Enjoy,
Greg Laws
