Isn't it suprising that those itty bitty tires can make your arms hurt that much in that short of a time.
The Alley has an indoor kart track on the east side of Wichita. The karts are electric, but I hear they are pretty fun.
Better yet buy a kart and go racing. Ask Bob Cummings he has autocrossed, sprint raced and road raced his kart.

I went karting at Dromo 1 ( http://www.dromo1.com ) when I was in L. A. on business. What a hoot. Thought my arms were going to fall off, though. I didn't do too bad for the first 5 laps or so. Qualified 4th of 8, and moved into 3rd right away. 1 and 2 were "regulars" I think, and quickly disappeared into the distance. 3rd place was a battle--constantly swapping position on the back part, but I'd always regain before the front straight. Then the leaders caught up with us and traffic got messy. Then came my spectacular off on about lap 7. All that stuff about slow motion--all I know is I was racing, and then I was in the wall <wham!>.
Sadler's is closer to home, in Olathe, but I haven't been able to get up there, yet.

Winter projects? Washing the DD, and building a slot car layout.

Subject: [Wichita-SCCA] Autocross in February
I'm sitting here in Dallas reading about everyones projects and solo withdrawls. And I have to say I managed to get a little speed fix this evening.
I went to this place; http://www.speedzone.com/dallas/racing.html#1 and drove the dragsters (0-70mph in 3.5 seconds) and the Grand Prix cars, which was pretty much like autocrossing. One timed lap at a time on a small road course that would make a very good solo course if you stretched it out and increased the radius of the turns. I don't know what the track record is, but I asked the kid operating the Grand Prix what would be considered a fast time, he asked if I had ever driven there before, I said no (which is true) then he didn't believe me when I beat his answer by 1.6 seconds on my very first lap. It was pretty fun. I got faster on every lap and my co-workers were jealous that they couldn't keep up.
Anyway, that was a good time, since I haven't had any driving fun since early November. It was made even more fun after spending two days trying to stay awake in a boring software class.
As far as car projects; I haven't done a thing to my Miata, but I'm looking forward to the first solo. Lately it has been running like it needs new plugs and wires or something, which is a high wear item on Miata's. Guess I better at least do that much so I don't sputter around the course come 3/11.
Well I better get back to enjoying the nice Texas weather while I still can; I hear I will be greeted back home Friday with freezing drizzle.
Yeehaw!
