[Wichita-SCCA] Winter projects

Old Corvettes have corrosion problems. Mine are the Body mounts that are 34
years old. (Gee the car is almost ready for an Antique license plate). There
are 8 mounts. The only way to replace all of them is to remove the body. I
thought about this for a while and don't have the time and more importantly
the desire. The rear two mounts, #4 right and left were so corroded that the
came off with my hands. Including the steel reinforcements and aluminum
rivets. $300 worth of all new parts and hardware, it is slowly going back
together. I had to reengineer the mounts as whomever designed them was on
crack or whatever was available in 1968. I now have a huge bruise on my
right leg from crawling in the rear luggage area to drill holes and insert
new stainless hardware.
Also I removed the Air conditioner's evaporator housing. Doesn't weigh that
much but takes up a lot of room under the hood. The Corvette Forum said to
contact AC Delete.com for a cover. I did....they don't make one but MIGHT in
a month.
I'm also planning to replace the old stock copper radiator with a factory
correct aluminum one. Only $700.
What isn't going to happen is fender flairs so that I can run 335 tires.
