Why is it that the midwest has so many road race tracks and so few SCCA road race drivers?? Obviously those tracks wouldn't be built unless the builders expected to make a profit so the question then becomes: "If the tracks are not filling?track days?with SCCA racers then what groups are filling those track days in our stead?? What are we missing in our attraction to road racers?? Has the race environment changed while the SCCA?hasn't?
Greg,

Not that I'm an expert on track management, I do "watch" what's going on at several tracks around the area. It appears to me that Track Days and Time Trial events are becoming more popular. These events are not actual racing, essentially PDX type events. Laps are timed to give some form of competition. Many clubs rent tracks to give members the track experience without the "risk" to their cars wheel?of wheel to wheel racing. Many tracks have started "Track Clubs" for car clubs that do just this type of event. The entry fee to join the "Club" is probably enough to insure the track makes money.
