[Wichita-SCCA] My first solo...

My sincere congratulations and thanks to all involved in the 8/12 solo, and
especially to the fine folks at O'Reilly Auto Parts. It was an excellent
event and I especially appreciated the attention paid to keeping everyone
safe in the extreme heat. The course was a blast. Anyone staying away
missed a really good event.

I apologize for ducking out so soon but frankly I was feeling the heat and
my 12-yr-old crewman was both over-heated and hungry so we headed first to
Wendy's and then to home. I had forgotten how much kids that age can eat!
I see in the results that Bill Preheim trounced both Hal Larcher and me in
FSP ... Bill's beginning to make a habit of that!

Coming off the course on one run, my young crewman/passenger said that my
driving scared him. I wonder what he meant by that? Oh well.

I won't be going to the next Wichita event at Hawker-Beechcraft so I guess
that the Phrog's next outing will be at the National Championships in Topeka
during the last week in September. Bummer. To tell the truth however, I'm
probably not going to be doing much autocrossing during the hot summer
months again. It's starting to be a real challenge to deal with it
healthwise when the temps are much above 90 degrees.

Enjoy,
Greg Laws
