Hey,

A reminder that Wednesday are the Solo and Membership meetings at
Quincy's. 6:30 for Solo, 7:30 for membership or come early and take
advantage of their Wednesday steak specials.

And it'll be pretty much a Solo evening. First off will be the Solo tech
class. If you remember from last month's Wail, it will be required to
attend this class (or make other arrangements) to be able to tech cars
for Solo.

The program for the general membership meeting will be. . . drum roll
please. . . . Brian Meyer giving one of his infamous Solo course design
classes.

Some more info on what will be going on. The Tech class will be an
informal class held in the Quincy's parking lot (maybe we can tech some
other customer's cars?) starting around 6:30. It will be conducted by a
licensed Solo Safety Steward Instructor, a Nationally licensed
Scrutineer and the Chief of Club Racing Tech for the Region. That'd be
me :-).
The reason for the special class? National has been very concerned about
the way tech inspections are being done (or not being done) around the
country and will probably make it a licensed specialty some time in the
near future. It's all about safety - both for the driver and for
potential car damage. Judging by some things we've found here in the
past, ranging from loose wheels to a battery held down by a stick (as in
tree branch!), even the best maintained cars need some checking to make
sure the driver just didn't overlook something.

Brian's course design seminar is a don't-miss event. Brian is one of the
best course designers in the area (dare I say country?) and his classes
make it all seem simple. He'll guide us through things to do, things not
to do, and ideas to make it more fun for everyone. Brian can only be
talked into doing these seminars every once in a while, so you need to
grab this one while it's here!!
