Hey,
I got my worker letter in the mail yesterday and it reminded me to let
everyone start making plans for our Regional/National races on the 14th
and 15th.
If you're new to the SCCA, you might be wondering what these races are.
Ark Valley Race Group (Wichita, Oklahoma and Northeast Oklahoma Regions)
put on wheel-to-wheel races at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, a 1.9 mile,
11 turn track about 40 miles this side of Tulsa (it's about 150 miles
from the north side of Wichita). No, you can't drive your Solo car ;-).
It's for true race cars and you have to hold a competition license.
But you can come down and "work." (I put work in quotes since it's a lot
more fun than any "work" I've ever done.) If you want to come down for
both days, great - if you can only make one day, that's great too. You
can go to our website, click on the Club Racing" link, click on "AVRG",
and "Get Involved" for descriptions of all the specialties. You'll get
fed lunch both days and the participant party on Saturday night is a blast.
If you're interested in getting in on the fun, contact me privately at
dgeis at cox.net and I can give you a bunch of particulars - how to get
there, what to bring, what to wear (nothing red!!), etc. It's as close
as you can get to racing without actually driving!
