It's that small diameter long tube induction system that chokes the L98
too. I ran a TPI L98 induction system (Accel SuperRam lower, SLP
runners, ported plenum) on a 383 with Dart heads in my old C4 and it
fell flat on it's face at 5200 rpm even with a 224/234 @.050 cam. It was
a great truck motor.

That's an interesting thing about those ol L98 motors. Saw in a Corvette

forum where a guy wrote in and wondered how to turn his rev limiter off
and 
they told him it didn't need one because the heads don't breath well
enough 
to let the engine rev higher than 5,500 of so. My engine will rev till
it 
breaks.
