Unless you are getting new software that requires Vista, I'd avoid
Vista for a year or two.

Just like IE 7, there are problems with the product.

At work, the desktop support team has blocked the IE 7 upgrade due to
the documented incompatibilities with several of our business
applications.

Heck, it's just been the last year we've deployed desktops with XP.
There were too many problems with XP when first released, and
incompatibility, which finally has been resolved.
