Paul:

An alternative would be to build your own.  If your current case is 
ATX then you can save some money.  I just purchased  a 3.4 Ghz 
Pentium D, ASUS Motherboard, and 1G of memory for a little over 
$400.00.  I re-used Disks, Video, Modem, and case.

The problem with this approach is when it won't boot.  :-(  If you 
would like more info, drop me a line.
