[Wichita-SCCA] Computer issues

There are plusses & minuses, Paul. If you take the option of going for a new XP computer or if you hang in there until the new Microsoft operating system comes out (due sometime soon I think), then you would have current operating software that would allow you to use currently available software programs that Windows 98 can't deal with. You would also have the enhanced reliability and greater capacity that comes with late model hardware. Either way you would end up with a much better unit than you would get if you just upgraded your current one.
The problem is that either way there would likely be problems with some of your current Windows 98 programs not being fully compatible with the new operating system. You would likely lose some programs and quite probably lose some data too unless you were very careful in how you back things up.
You pays your money and you takes your choice.

Time to finally bite the bullet. My POC Dell is still running Windows 98 and I need to upgrade to 2K or XP. I figure it might be time to also upgrade the hard drive. I'm tired of it being slow and all the error messages I get, plus I'm gonna finally ditch dial-up. Anybody have a recommendation where/who to take this to for the tune up? Or maybe just get a new one? TIA,
Paul
