[Wichita-SCCA] New Divisional Solo Steward appointed for 2007.

Some of you have probably heard by now....About two months ago, our Divisional Solo Steward resigned from his position of 2 great years. Under Dave Whitworth's command, the division grew both financially and with a surge of attendance growth, as well as a 5th event added to our series. The Division has also held its reputation of being the best dang Division in the country, and we should be proud of that. Dave, like others before him, began to get a little burned out. Delicately balancing family, work, responsibility and fun. It was a tough decision for him to make, but he ultimately decided to focus more on the family, work and fun. So on November 6th, he resigned from the position. However, Dave will continue to support the Division with SPS continuing as the Series Co-Sponsor. 

For the last couple of months, the Divisional Committee and the Area 6 Director, Charlie Clark, have been trying to pick a qualified candidate to fill Dave's position. Charlie's first pick was Vern Maxey. After some persuasion, Vern has decided to take on the roll of DSS. 

For those of you who don't know Vern.he's an active member of the KC region's club. And when he began autoxing back in 1998, you may have seen him in his black VW Beetle, nicknamed Darth Beetle. From his first day out, he jumped in with both feet. Matching tow vehicle, car and trailer, every little gadget on the market, and he and his high school sweetheart Janet, in matching crew uniforms. Not much has changed even today. Although the car has morphed into a beautiful black formula vee, now nicknamed Darth Vee that he and his son built from the ground up. 

Vern is vigorously learning the job responsibilities and starting to make a list of priorities. He will have the full support of the divisional committee, from the previous administration, as his board of advisors. So you can count on the 2007 season to be the same quality series that you've come to expect. 

Please welcome Vern to the helm of the best dang Division in the land.
