[Wichita-SCCA] Wednesday night drags

It wasn't very crowded.  I went again a couple of weeks ago to run the
CRX and there were less people than before but it also looked like it
was going to rain so that may have kept some folks away.  I got seven
runs in with the CRX.  I stopped because I wasn't getting any faster.
Seems like "R" compound tires get loaded up with all sorts of weird
rubber at the start line and loose grip the more runs you make.  They
were fine the next weekend at Salina so it didn't hurt the tires at all
but after four runs at WIR I was having trouble with traction into 2nd
gear.  And that's with a Honda 1.6L SOHC engine!

There wasn't much of a stage line either time I went.  You could pretty
much just line up and go.  They also sell 104 race gas for $4.25/gal
there.

How many runs were you able to do from 7-10? Were there a lot of cars?
Another option depending on how many people would be interested would be
to rent the track. The last time I was involved with a private track
rental there, when I cleaned out my car the next day I found over 25 run
slips and I had the car parked for quite a while. I'm thinking that I
paid around $20. I don't know how many paid that day, but by the end of
the day I could do a run and pull right back up, stage, and do another
run.

Wichita International Raceway will be open this coming Wednesday night
for some Time Only (TO) racing.  A couple weeks ago it was $10 to run.
Gates open at 6, cars on track from 7-10pm.  I believe closed toe shoes
and long pants are required to run.  A small group of autoxers went out
after the last BoD meeting and had a good time.

I don't know if I'll be there or not.
