[Wichita-SCCA] Electric Solo?

Several thoughts on electric/hybrid cars:

1. You could not afford your Prius/Insight or electric car if it weren't
heavily subsidized by the Mfr and the Gubmint. Hence the $100K+ price to
buy such vehicles from a small output company.
2. Where do you think the electricy to recharge the electric car comes
from? Yup, coal or oil fired generators.
3. Solar power sucks on cloudy days and at night and wind power doesn't
always blow.
4. Electric cars tend to be small. Excursions, Suburbans and 3/4 ton
trucks are not. Who wants to be a "speedbump"?
5. Batteries, generators and convertors are VERY expensive to replace.
(See #1)
6. What do you do with all of those old batteries from electric cars?
7. They're not very cool.
8. Electric cars don't make real car noises and folks don't pay attention
in traffic well enough as it is. (See #4)

And don't even get me started on the false economy of corn-based E85 fuel.

Eric
