[Wichita-SCCA] Electric Solo?

Oh I dunno.  Not trying to pick a fight but how many miles do you drive
back and forth to work?  (12 miles for me)
 
The concept is that it's just for commuting, not so much for going long
distances.  You drive it to work, drive it home, all the while
presumably in stop-and-go traffic where regenerative braking works best,
plug it in when you get home and let it recharge overnight.
 
It's based on the Lotus Elise chassis and I can tell you first hand that
you don't want to drive more than 250 miles at a time in that anyway.
 
Electric cars still can't do everything that we're used to using normal
cars for and I don't think they really ever will until compact clean
energy sources are developed.  However since electric power can be
generated from a variety of sources besides burning dinosaurs, including
some renewable sources (wind, solar, tidal, geothermal, etc.) and cars
consume so much energy I'm all for electric cars.  I think hybrid cars
are the best combination and hope the technology works its way into
mainstream cars and trucks quickly.
 
Actually, I secretly hope they declassify the anti-gravity technology
soon so we can finally get Jetsons-like flying cars.  Imaging
autocrossing in three dimensions.  :-)

The concept is awesome, the car and its performance are fantastic, but
they've got some more work to do on the engineering side before this
becomes practical.
